Job description

As a financial accountant, you will be responsible for core accounting, reporting, and financial control activities, while coordinating with external bookkeepers and advisors. This role strengthens Aerska’s internal finance capability and ensures financial information is accurate, timely, and aids decision-making as the company scales. This is a hands-on role for a qualified accountant who is looking to strengthen technical skills, gain industry experience and develop commercial awareness. The Financial Accountant will play a key part in not just keeping the finance function running smoothly, but also enabling better planning, insight, and decision-making across the business.

  • Manage the month-end close, including journals, accruals, prepayments, and variance analysis
  • Oversee external bookkeepers and monitor the general ledger for accuracy
  • Prepare monthly management accounts with clear variance analysis and commentary
  • Maintain ownership of balance sheet reconciliations and financial controls
  • Support year-end close and preparation of statutory financial statements and consolidated financial statements
  • Ensure accuracy, consistency, and completeness of financial records across entities
  • Prepare and review VAT returns and related filings
  • Collate information for corporation tax returns and liaise with external tax advisors

Relevant work experience

  • Hands-on, detail-oriented, and comfortable operating in a lean finance environment
  • Strong technical accounting foundation with good commercial judgment
  • Confident communicator, able to explain financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders
  • Comfortable balancing accuracy, deadlines, and pragmatism in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong Excel skills and confidence working with accounting systems
